2026 SSRP Cohort Chosen

Congratulations to this year’s cohort of BMRC Summer Student Research Program (SSRP) participants! This year’s program welcomes six talented students from both within and beyond the University of Pittsburgh.

The SSRP offers students an immersive experience that combines hands-on laboratory research with interactive classroom learning. Under the guidance of expert mentors in the BMRC Core Labs, students will develop technical research skills while also strengthening professional competencies. Classroom sessions will focus on communication and networking, preparing competitive applications for medical or graduate school, and crafting an effective “elevator pitch” to clearly articulate their research.

The program culminates in an end-of-summer symposium, where participants will present their research findings to faculty, peers, and the broader BMRC community.

Congratulations to Diya Bhagat, Joseph Perry, Caelan McCormack, Derek Favorite, Ann George, and Matthew Shi, and sincere thanks to the BMRC faculty and staff who are mentoring and supporting these promising young researchers.
